Murrell Park Road Repair and Repaving

This project consisted of removing existing asphalt, installing new asphalt and concrete pavement, and reestablishing the drainage.

GDI removed approximately 2 to 4 inches of existing asphalt on approximately 431 LF of Park road. Average width of the road was approximately 25 LF. Remove existing base course add 8″ of new flex base compact and graded. After proper road and curb preparation, GDI
installed 4” of hot mix asphalt.

The turnaround at the entrance to the park, GDI removed approximately 2 to 4 inches of existing asphalt on approximately 750 LF of park road. The average width of the road was approximately 15ft. Also, removed the existing base course approximately 6 inch deep, add 8” of new flex base compacted and graded. GDI then came back with 4 inches of hot mix asphalt on 661 LF of compacted flex base at a road width of 14 LF, replaced the back side of the turn around with 8” of reinforced concrete pavement at approximately 90 LF by 18 LF. GDI also constructed 1500 LF of concrete curbs 6″ x 18″.

The next part of the project was to reestablish the drainage ditches on the east and west sides of the road from the culvert located at the lowest elevation to 195 LF up the hill toward the turn around. Lined reestablished drainage ditch with seed germination blanket to prevent erosion and establish vegetation, and with rip rap from culvert to start of drainage ditch. Replaced culvert and increase size suitable to prevent drainage back up, added cement culvert head wall and end wall.
